온라인상에 게시되는 여러 장르의 텍스트, 이미지,파일들을 모은 《SECRET TEXTS》는 게시된 HTML/XML 도큐먼트를 그대로 따와 도큐먼트의 엉성하고도 복잡한 마크업 구조와 부산물들을 그리드 안에 ‘가로세로 위아래앞뒤’로 숨겨둡니다. 시크릿텍스트는 제가 최근까지 두고두고 보게되는 텍스트와 파일들로 시작합니다. 무심하게 스크롤하던 엄지손가락, 화면 위로 흘러가버리던 눈동자를 붙들어보길!

구글 스프레드시트를 디자인 도구로 활용해 인쇄 가능한 문서 또는 이미지, 방문 가능한 웹사이트를 만드는 워크숍 《화이트 스프레드시트》^whitespreadsheet.online. 스프레드시트의 용도를 브랜드 아이덴티티 개발, Net Art 프로젝트, 포트폴리오, 디자인 역사 타임라인, 서재 인덱스, 던전 메이커, 웹사이트 혹은 그 이상으로 확장하여 상상한 후 이를 제작합니다.

• 1주 - 도구의 확장 기존 디자인 프로그램을 활용하지 않은 대안적인 디자인 방식들을 살펴봅니다. 또한 스프레드시트를 단순히 정보를 정리하는 용도 이상으로 보다 역동적으로 활용한 사례들을 소개하며 기존 도구의 확장 가능성을 상상합니다.
• 2주 - 문서와 이미지 스프레드시트가 가진 제약 안에서 레이아웃, 패턴, 폰트 등을 디자인해 인쇄 가능한 문서 또는 이미지를 만듭니다.
• 3, 4주 - 웹사이트 스프레드시트를 활용하여 방문할 수 있는 아카이브, 게시판, 포트폴리오 등 다양한 용도의 웹사이트를 만듭니다. 또한 자신의 스프 레드시트를 《화이트 스프레드시트》 웹사이트의 하부페이지에 연결하고 자신만의 주소를 생성하여 누구나 방문이 가능한 웹사이트로 전환합니다.

— Statement

SECRET TEXTS is a collection of texts, images, and files drawn from various genres found online. By appropriating published HTML/XML documents, it conceals their awkward, complex markup structures and digital byproducts within a grid—hidden horizontally, vertically, above, below, in front, and behind.

SECRET TEXTS begins with texts and files that I have found myself returning to again and again. It is an invitation to hold onto what would otherwise drift away: the thumb scrolling absentmindedly, the gaze slipping past the screen.

WHITE SPREADSHEET is a workshop that uses Google Spreadsheets as a design tool for creating printable documents, images, and visitable websites.

Participants are invited to imagine and produce projects that expand the conventional use of spreadsheets beyond information management—toward brand identity systems, net art projects, portfolios, design-history timelines, library indexes, dungeon makers, websites, and more.

Dates: October 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2023 (Saturdays)
Time: 3:00 PM–5:00 PM
Venue: Birdcall (3F, 12 Pirundae-ro 7-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul)

• Week 1 - We explore alternative approaches to design that do not rely on conventional design software. Through examples of spreadsheets used as dynamic creative tools rather than simple organizational systems, participants are encouraged to imagine new possibilities for extending the function of familiar tools.

• Week 2 - Working within the constraints of spreadsheets, participants design layouts, patterns, typography, and visual structures to create printable documents and images.

• Week 3-4 - Participants use spreadsheets to build websites for a variety of purposes, including archives, bulletin boards, and portfolios. Each participant then connects their spreadsheet to a subpage of the WHITE SPREADSHEET website, generating a unique URL and transforming their work into a publicly accessible website.
